How to Treat Arthritis

How to treat arthritis is a question asked by millions of people around the globe, usually after putting up with joint pain in one form or another as well as reduced mobility and aches and pains in the muscles.

How to Treat Arthritis

The knees , hips and fingers  are the most common places for arthritis to be found although arthritis also occurs in the neck, shoulders  back and feet as well.

The usual symptoms are aches and pains in the joints, muscular pain in the affected area and swelling of the joints and knuckles.

This makes movement such as walking very painful thus reducing un-assisted mobility

Arthritis joint pain can sometimes be confused with gout which is formed by uric acid being produced in the body from alcohol, meat and seafood. Gout can therefore often be cured by dieting, reducing the intake of these foods and eating more vegetables, fruits, non-whole-grain breads and cereals.

There are many remedies for arthritis including Anti Inflammatory Drugs and pain killers, which should be prescribed by your physician, herbal and natural treatment, creams, exercise programmes and, as a last resort, surgery.

As a fellow sufferer who has overcome most of the aches and pains and whose occupation involves being physically active I would like to give encouragement and the benefit of my experience and research to other sufferers.

The main causes of arthritis are either  age related , as Seventy per cent of arthritis sufferers are over 65 years old, or, as a result of sporting or other injuries Another cause of joint pain is obesity or being over- weight thus putting undue stress on loadbearing joints such as the knees and hips.

If these conditions apply it’s onset is  predictable and if early action is taken on the first signs before it becomes painful or impedes mobility it’s effect can be drastically reduced.

How to Treat ArthritisThere are many types of arthritis including rheumatoid arthritis, gout, osteoarthritis, lupus, fibromyalgia to name a few. It is therefore important that you identify which type you are suffering from and if in doubt consult your physician or other expert.

Unfortunately many doctors when consulted will just prescribe anti- inflammatory drugs and pain killers send the patient for an x-ray and then wait until the condition has deteriorated sufficiently to justify surgery.

However it is very important that you consult your doctor and obtain an accurate diagnosis of the type of arthritis you are suffering from.
